    nice staff

not all rooms are clean, bed too soft, too many ants

  • Family with children

It was near the place of my business meeting. Homely architechure with heritage accent.

The water pressure was absolutely bad. So difficult to get a bath. We practically didn't get to have a proper bath for 3 days. The sheets had blood staints and very dusty, like as if it was not washed.

Hotel staff were good and rooms were absolutely clean. I stayed in the room (se view). There is no direct seaview, there is a restaurant and treas which onstacles your view to the sea. First I stayed for few hours in the rooms with out seaview, then I changed it and paid extra 10 rm per night. Location was good if you have car. Hotel staff was friednly and suuportive and the rooms was very clean. Hotel is in fact a historical place , 1948, that needs a little investment to attract many passengers. Hotel was quite and less noise. Good.

First night of stay was disappointing, as there was many mosquittos which welcome us by biting ! The next day, I got an ointment from a pharmacy and I told hotel staff for this problem. They gave us a spray and that was very helpful to avoid mosquittos to attack us ! My little kid was bited many times. Breakfast was absolutely nothing, jam, toasted bread, tea/coffea. No egg, no milk, no fruit. I had to pay for chease if I wanted to have it. Hotel price was high compared to services. I feel that was because of Hari Raya holiday peak in Malaysia.

Chinesseafood restaurant belongs to the same owner . Cheap and good .

Must take off shoes to protect heritage flooring

  • Family with children

It's like an ancient mansion which having "historic" value. Room is spacious but the taking shower having a little problem. It have one shower tap but its only having normal water. There are 2 water taps located near the toilet bow, there is hot water tap and the others is normal one, so we have to premix the water by ourselve. There were occasion that the tap is running out water but just a short while. Reason - ?? In overall, staying there can be very relax and its definitely value for money.

    Cleaness and friendly staff

A bit far from town, wireless did not cover all room, not really well seaview(a restorent between hotel and sea)

    - The hotel has a great potential - the ceilings are very high, the floors have this antique charm and are quite beautiful - if they would invest a little bit and refurbish the house softly, you could have a really great boutique/vintage hotel that I am sure people would love - Location is ok and there are two receptionists that understand well English and they are quite helpful (just hope that you don't get the not-understanding-one...).

    - We were quite disappointed of this hotel. It is run down, the furniture is old and they did not even put in the effort to unwrap the lamps from their original packaging. - The breakfast is not really a breakfast and we were the only guests eating in the breakfast room...a lady brought us plain toast and butter/jam and we then even had to get the toast done ourselves. - When we came back from our day trip, neither was the bed made nor was the room cleaned. Quite a poor service for the price we paid for the room. When I asked the receptionist to make the bed, he did not understand a single word. Same thing with restaurant recommandation, he just did not understand.

Very charming old building at down a quiet lane next to a really popular fish restaurant, only about 17 rooms and a few function rooms that have karaoke but they shut it down by 10,30 so not a problem, could do with a TV in each room because the TV room is pretty warm and only 1 tiny fridge for everyone to share though it's more than some had.

Rooms could do with a freshen up & some new bed covers but for the price it's not too bad, a small fridge & TV would be nice too, great for a short stay but a bit far from the nightlife to walk.WIFI connection was crap the whole 3 days...in out in out Grrrrr

  • Group of friends

The staff in hotel paramount are friendly. I would give an excellent to the cleanliness of the hotel & with the price tat they offer, it's pretty much of a good bargain. I would recommend it to those who wish to hv a comfort, clean, & affordable trip in Penang. The design of the hotel is more upwards a heritage kind of design & those who would want to hv a feel of the early living style of Penang ppl can actually give it a try. Afterall.. It is a good bargain !

  • Group of friends

    Heritage feels and strategic location

Should improve the condition of the bathroom

  • Group of friends

It`s a heritage hotel..have some antique look. Very clean and well arranged.

    1. Don't have TV in the room. 2. Poor aircondition system. 3. No bathtub. 4. Insufficient power socket outlet. 5. Unstable WiFi signal. 6. Poor signage..Very small signage.

  • Older travelers

It was quiet, convenient to facilities, and that's really all we wanted.

  • Group of friends

Glad to stay in Paramount even just for a night, worth for the money

  • Family with children

The hotel is located in antic building. The location is not to convenient (quite far from ferry terminal and Chulia street) but in front of seashore. There is a nice Chinese restaurant on the ground floor.

Breakfast was too simple: just 2 slices of bread, jam, butter and tea/coffee. Beds are not comfortable. In our room water-heater didn’t work.

  • Group of friends

They are very friendly and willing to help u out. Room is big... Very big... Especially Mr. Khan & Mr. Halim (Mr. Khan works on night shfit and left by 1030pm then come back for morning shift agian...so hard working..) Since only one man to guard the hotel after 1030pm and locked the hotel door and sleeping on the lobby floor...for the 3 nights we stayed, we returned most likely after mid-nite and he is still patient to open the door and served us friendly, many thanks but forgot to ask his name. They are all willing to help from heart, we are very appreciated. Complementary breakfast like toast, coffee or milk tea from 7 to 930am, thank you so much.

Hot water pressure pump not so good due to old building, only 1 plug in room, no phone installed in room so can't call to the reception, cleaning your room only by guest instructed to the reception in the morning, blanket maybe not well washed, ants problem, though WiFi free only in public areas but not in room
